Inside Government Case Study
Creating accessibility champions
All Able have been working with Inside Government for the last few years to provide training to hundreds of organisations who are looking to improve their digital accessibility. These courses have seen attendees from across a vast variety of organisations improve core skills to become accessibility champions.
Why is training needed?
Delivering accessibility is not just something that you can call in a contractor to resolve. It is not a short term project, but at heart a cultural change. Ensuring accessibility takes real engagement of staff to deliver services that are accessible.
All Able training gives you the skills to deliver accessibility in your organisation; this will need action from all levels, and All Able offer a range of training courses to support the range of skills development needed for different roles.
“From the very first training with Ben, George and the All Able team has been an absolute pleasure. Working in tandem to provide expert guidance to support delegates address and overcome their accessibility issues, the Website Accessibility course that they run is easily one of our most popular. Ben and George’s professionalism and passion is clear, and it’s a joy to work with them.”
– Bailey Bidnall, Head of Portfolio
What do delegates enjoy most?
"Inside Government delegates always enjoy the dynamic of the trainers, with their passion for accessibility shining through. The practical demonstrations of accessibility checks allows for real world examples that they can recognise in their work."
All Able take an approach to training sessions that focusses on meeting attendee needs rather than moving through a prescribed agenda. While our courses do come with structure and a series of topics we know we are going to discuss and consistent slides and resources to support that, we encourage attendees at the start of every session to tell us what problems they came on the training to help solve. Are they struggling with PDF remediation? Need to improve how the hold suppliers to account for delivering accessible services? Been monitored by the government and need to know more about the regulations?
All Able make sure we answer all key needs of our attendees even if that does mean we go over time a little or take some detours. Previous attendee feedback has shown us overwhelming positive feedback on this approach, with focus on attendee needs over rigid agenda leading to worked real world examples of attendee content, meaningful discussions about attendee situations which resonate with other delegates and finally attendees leaving feeling they got what they needed from the course and feel empowered to tackle their next accessibility task.
Interest in All Able courses is not slowing down for Inside Government! The choice to create bespoke training has allowed us the opportunity to really cater to the needs of the Inside Government delegates and we are expanding our offering of courses with the next one to launch being a more in-depth whole day session focussed on creating accessible documents and improving written content.
