Getting started with accessibility testing

Overview

Being able to develop accessible services, monitor and prove levels of compliance is a highly technical tasks. To manage this process, organisations need staff that understand the technical standards, how to meet them in development and how to test and monitor compliance.

This course is technically focused on understanding the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.2 AA standard, and other compliance requirements and exemptions for the regulations. This course will also cover some Assistive Technology user testing techniques.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this training, delegates should have the knowledge and tools to:

• Be familiar with the basics of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines

• Be able to identify accessibility issues on a website and link these back to specific guidance points

• Understand how to use online tools, OS settings and assistive technology to assist with accessibility testing

• Understand how to present testing outcomes to support evidencing of compliance for legislative purposes
